Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade have nearly finished their Rainbow Portraits. To start, we practiced drawing faces and features in our sketchbooks. We used how-to-draw books, as well as reference posters to help select just the right features and hair. Then, we copied our favorite sketch onto a piece of watercolor paper. Using permanent black markers, we outlined our portrait to add definition. We used other permanent markers to add patterns to our hair, clothing, and background. Finally, we used watercolor paint to fill in all of the remaining white areas. Below you will see pictures of the process. Stay tuned, the final work will be hanging soon!
