Fifth grade students have also been studying biomes, and are working on their second project within their biome. Each student has selected a biome they wish to focus on, and they are choosing a plant, prededor, prey, or landscape to create from their biome for each project. Below the students are experimenting with charcoal for the first time, and they were very successful! The work looks awesome.

First grade have completed their next story project: a sculpture of Sherlock the fish with a big crush. The class read the story, hunting for examples of the digraph "sh" in the passage. Then they designed and built their very own fish to take home! When they were all placed together, they looked like an ocean full of colorful fish.
Middle school students are continuing their biome concentrations with a new medium: charcoal. Students chose a second image within their concentration topic to illustrate using pencil or charcoal. Students focused on using a full range of value, or shades of gray, and creating three dimensional forms. Below I have included pictures of the sixth grade class process and their hanging work!
