It is now year three of the beloved rainbow wall. Every year, students from kindergarten through 8th grade create self-portraits in an assigned color. The portraits are assembled on the center staircase in the order of the color spectrum. At the bottom of the stairs you can see our kindergarten artists drawing their first faces in pink. As you move up the stairs to first grade's red paintings, 2nd grade's orange paintings, and 3rd grade's yellow paintings, you cannot help but notice the faces grow more polished, realistic, and unique. By the time you make it to the top of the staircase by the 8th grade's violet portraits, the details and craftsmanship are impressive. The staircase serves as a unique journey through the artistic stages our students inhabit.

Welcome back to another year of design thinking! Students are about to begin their next journey through the artistic process with drawing, painting, and sculpture. Our first projects will be on display in the central staircase during the Bright School open house September 22nd. As always, the art room is collecting newspapers to help keep our tables clean, and students can receive extra credit for each paper they bring.
