For this project, each student chose a musical artist they considered to be a legend. Then, students used a gridding process to realistically draw the musician's face. You can see that process in a previous post. We then listened to one song by each artist, and created interpretational paintings of the artists' songs. Finally, students collaged paper scraps, self-created stickers, and the portraits on top of their paintings to create the final works you see below.
Middle school has completed their portraits of musical legends, and we are in the process of hanging them up around the school. I have some 7th grade examples up on my bulletin board, while 8th grade's work is hanging by the stairway. Soon the rest of the 7th and 6th grade projects will be there to join them!
