We just concluded our field trips to the Museum of Contemporary Art here in Chicago, affectionately known as MOCA. Our 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students visited the museum to see what contemporary art looks like today. Students got to interact with the work, watch short artist videos, and received a personal tour from a local artist. Students were quick to point out that the art in the museum was weird - such as the motorized ponytail attached to the wall, but that the art made them think a little differently about what it means to be an artist.
