Currently, Middle school students are using gridding (a mathematical scaling technique), to create a realistic drawing of their Legend. Soon, student will listen to school-appropriate music performed by these artists to create abstract painted backgrounds for their portraits. Take a look at some of their gridded drawings below!
This fall, students in 6th-8th grades have been translating the sounds of music into abstract paintings. For our first long-term project, students have selected an American musician that they would classify as a "Legend" from the past or present. Students selected musicians such as Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, and Enrique Iglesias to create a musical portrait about. Currently, Middle school students are using gridding (a mathematical scaling technique), to create a realistic drawing of their Legend.
