Students are nearly done with these balloons, so you can expect to see them on display during report card pickup!
After completing their "Oh The Places You'll Go!" watercolor paintings, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students began creating models of their ideal hot air balloon. Students are using party balloons as a base, and then adding layers of paper mache to create the hard shell of the balloon. Once the shell is completed, students have the option of gluing colored paper on top, or using paint to decorate their balloons. The final step will be painting paper cups for their baskets and attaching the baskets to their balloons with colorful pipe cleaners. Older students will be able to do this part by themselves while staff members may help the younger students with this step. Students are nearly done with these balloons, so you can expect to see them on display during report card pickup!
