Welcome back to a new year here in the Bright Studio! I am very excited to be back for my 6th year as the arts specialist at O.T. Bright. This first week I have been going over classroom routines and expectations with students before we begin our first project of the year. The art room is a very structured environment, and for good reason! We use many tools and make many messes. Structure and rules ensure that all students can participate in a safe, clean environment. If I ever have to contact home for a behavior issue, please understand that it if for the safety and well-being of your child and all of their classmates. Please consider visiting the "Art Wish List" tab above to access a list of needed art room supplies. The list includes art materials, cleaning materials, and recyclables. One of the materials we need the most of are old newspapers. During the year we use newspapers to keep areas clean, to protect projects, and to build sculptures. If you have some newspapers around at home, or you would like to donate other supplies, please send them in with your child! the Rainbow wall of course! This has become a Bright School tradition, and we will be continuing it this year. Starting today, all classes are beginning to practice drawing faces, particularly their own face. When ready, students will draw a self-portrait on watercolor paper and use watercolor paint to fill it in with their class color. For now, we are working on avoiding some common drawing mistakes. Take a look at my poster below of some of the most common portrait mistakes.
